Today, a new version of Audiffex Pedals has been released. Some things have been improved, but most of all, we have finished the AU version, so it is possible to use them on Mac together with GarageBand or Logic.

We have released a new version of inTone family applications. The update is available for PC and addresses issues reported when using inTone in Windows 7. Also, new features have been added, especially significantly extended MIDI control - now it is possible to control not only effect parameters and virtual instruments, but all the racks and mixer windows as well!

The second important addition to the functionality of inTone is the chain management. Copying whole effect chains between programs and naming them makes organizing your banks and programs even simpler than so far!

Audiffex announces the end of the ~50% discount for M-Audio customers when upgrading to the Pro versions of inTone | Keys, inTone | Bass, inTone | Guitar and inTone | Matrix. The discounted upgrade will be available until the end of October.

To utilize the discount now, all customers who purchased an audio or MIDI interface by M-Audio may download the Express version of inTone for free here, and upgrade directly from the reminder window, appearing when quitting inTone.

Our original GT Player Express and RT Player Express were available on M-Audio bundled CD's.

This type of presence of our SW is replaced by online distribution. Every M-Audio customer purchasing a computer-connectable product (audio interface, MIDI interface, keyboard) may download any version of inTone | Express for free.

Important notes:

There is no serial number required for the Express versions, they work just if the M-Audio hardware is connected The bundled SW is not freeware - it is equivalent to the retail versions sold for $69 or more. When users decide to upgrade to the Pro version, we provide a discount equal to the value of the bundled version. So the upgrade from the bundled Express version to the Pro version is discounted by $69 or more. In other words, purchasing M-Audio HW, every customer gets a $69 bonus to use the Express version for free or the same bonus to get the Pro version discounted.

These bundled versions work with all the M-Audio USB and FireWire products. For some of them, there is a notice at the bottom of M-Audio pages in the "Bundled Software" frame.

Gallien-Krueger simply want to make GK-powered recording easier: Customers purchasing GK products will receive software allowing to include easily the GK sound in multitrack projects and recordings. GK Amplification VST and RTAS plug-ins will offer models of several GK amps and speakers. The Express version of the plug-in will be also available as a part of Audiffex inTone | Bass live effect applications in M-Audio software bundles.

This maintenance update improves the GUI refreshing of the opened plug-ins. inTone and GarageBand or Logic? Yes!

We are working on the AudioUnit version of inTone. The development takes a bit more than we expected, because we change the structure of the whole application.

We have tested something working right now. There is an elegant solution which allows to use inTone as an effect processor for GarageBand or Logic input as well as it allows to include iTunes Playback in inTone recordings.

Learn how to use SoundFlower by Cycling 74 to extend possibilities of inTone and interFX.

We have tested it also with Leopard and Intel Macs and it works seamlessly.

The new inValve plug-ins and our TL-Audio based product line.

We have announced new inValve plug-ins to be released in the second half of 2007. The bad news is that we were not able to start that development because we needed to finalize the inTone effects. The good news is, that now we have assigned one engineer to work on the PowerCore DSP algorithms and the result is here:

We are testing inValve | Equaliser and inValve | Compressor.We have significantly improved the original algorithms, so the next generation of inValve | Preamp will sound even better.TL-Audio is a great partner. They keep producing the fantastic vintage products and they are open to the newest technologies, so it is a pleasure that we can announce further cooperation. We receive repeated support requests: Why GT Player does not work with Leopard?

Most of the users reporting this issue have new Macs, powered by Intel processors, so there is rather a problem that GT Player is not a native Intel application.

Please, don't spend hours investigating what is wrong, don't report this incompatibility as a bug. GT Player was replaced by inTone Guitar Express a while ago, so download the new Express version for free . It works with all M-Audio MIDI and audio interfaces.

Although GT Player may run on Windows Vista, we recommend to update the PC version to inTone Guitar Express, too. The file is available here as a free download.

In our era of searching for old proven quality, software companies announce emulation of devices used some twenty or thirty years ago. We decided to rely on a manufacturer producing top-class products for more than a hundred years.

Bass processing: Respect for the unique nature of the bass sound.

We have released a new complete set of bass effects.

The algorithms are designed for bass guitar, double bass or any other bass sound (synthesized).The bass sounds need to be processed gently. So we have invented unique new algorithms for modulation and distortion/overdrive effects. Gentle effecting doesn't mean simply decreasing the wet:dry ratio. It is much more complicated, sensitive to the bass sound colour before it gets processed.We have created models of bass speakers as well as models of the tone controls of famous combos and amplifiers.

The new bass effects are bundled with inTone | Bass Express (some) and with inTone | Bass Pro, inTone | Matrix Pro, inTone | Keys Pro and interFX Pro (all).

Audiffex has released a new version of all inTone variants and interFX Pro. The update is free for all users who purchased inTone or interFX Pro.

Major changes:

New effects added to the Pro versions. Important note: The Program Banks location was changedThe Program Banks are located in the Music/Audiffex folder as well as the recordings. The Banks are directly compatible with the web database, no conversion is required anymore. The old banks are compatible, just move them from /Preferences/com.audiffex.common/Programs to Music/Audiffex/Programs. Also change the extension from .plist to .affxbank.

The reason why we moved the programs: Mac OS X has built-in searching and QuickLook (10.5) systems. Audiffex Programs saved in Preferences were not accessible by the searching engine. Now you may type "Rock" in SpotLight and the Audiffex Program Banks containing "Rock" are displayed in the search results. And you may preview the bank contents using the Quick Look function in Leopard.

In the end of the last year we had performed an analysis of the user feedback and we are honestly disclosing, what users appreciate and what they are missing in our software.

We are pleased to have very positive feedback from users writing us directly. But we had also collected the comments published on various servers, either positive or negative. We have selected the frequently mentioned pros and cons:

Requested features and problems disappointing users:

Sustain - especially when playing without an accompaniment, the sustain has too steep fading. Reported at the Musician Friend's website for our older GT Player.Our response: inTone applications have added a downwards expander as an alternative to noise gate. Now we are working on a quite new set of dynamic plug-ins, making the setting of long sustain much easier.ASIO drivers - GT Player or inTone cannot be launched, reporting missing ASIO drivers .Our response: inTone has improved the detection of audio drivers. However, drivers must be properly installed, we have several articles covering the driver issues in our Classroom section. Missing Audio Unit versions, GarageBand compatibility.Our response: Yes, this is our goal No. 1. We are a both-platform company, so our choice was VST, even before Audio Units were introduced. But taking the Mac support seriously, Audio Units are the necessary.

NRV10 interFX for Mac updated. Leopard users: Download now!

We have just released an important update of NRV10 interFX. Both the bundled and Pro versions are 1.1.3.

NRV10 and both interFX versions are Leopard compatible

The bundled version is Leopard compatible now (the Pro version already was compatible). M-Audio does not officially support Leopard by their FireWire drivers. After some time of testing, we can say that the latest NRV10 FireWire driver for Tiger is working seamlessly with NRV10 interFX and also with all our inTone applications in Leopard.

interFX 1.1.3 opens all inTone banks correctly

We have an automatic chain muting preventing the clean signal to be present, when a program from an inTone version with less chains is opened in a version with more chains. Because NRV10 interFX doesn't have the chain muting controls, we added some code to open the inTone programs correctly in interFX 1.1.3.

What's next

All our software products are tested on the newest versions of Apple Mac OS X and Microsoft Windows.

Mac

Apple Mac OS X 10.5 Leopard is supported by all the new products - inTone, interFX and inValve.

The legacy products GT Player and RT Player are discontinued. They may run on Leopard (but they don't support natively Intel Macs, this is sometimes reported as Leopard incompatibility). Please update them to inTone Guitar.

Windows

Microsoft Windows Vista is supported by all the new products - inTone, interFX and inValve.

The legacy products GT Player and RT Player are discontinued. They may run on Vista. Even though, update them to inTone Guitar.

Drivers for audio and MIDI hardware

Audiffex is not developing drivers for audio or MIDI interfaces, the hardware vendors are responsible for the Leopard and Vista support.

Unofficially, we have tested USB and FireWire interfaces by M-Audio, all of them worked with Leopard. We understand they need to test these devices carefully before the Leopard support will be announced.

The inSpector application is bundled with every inTone variant. Currently we don't support the drag and drop based rearrangement of sounds, so you need to do it in inTone.

To create a new bank, just duplicate the .plist file in the Programs folder (locate it using an inSpector command)To rearrange the sound program, use inTone. Unlike PC, Mac is very fast when switching the sound banks, so you cal load a program, change the active bank and save the program to the new bank.To use downloaded .afxbank files, rename them to .plist and move to the Programs folder

We started with exact models of real guitar amplifiers - all the preamps, the Speaker Simulator and the Tone Control plug-ins are results of careful measurements of many popular guitar amplifiers, combos and speakers.

Note: The new effects are available in version 1.0.6 of inTone Pro, not in the Express versions. inTone Mac is being rewriten now to support new Leopard features, so the 1.0.6 version for Mac will be released in September.

The original plan to release a set of 12 new effects is changed: We will add effects continuously, about 2 new effects a month. Additionally, our customers will get new sound banks with each update, utilizing the new effects. The final number of effects will be much greater than 12.

inTone is a quite new application, there are many changes and new features. We believe that our users will prefer using inTone instead of GT Player. However, there are a few things not present in inTone:

We plan to add both VST and AudioUnit, but in a new compact style. Also the Full Screen will be much improved. ReWire will appear in the next release.

Completely new audio engine. Fixes sync problems with NRV10 HW.Audio controls changed. Sample rate can be selected in the Preferences panel.All the audio parameters are switch-able during processing, hot plug/unplug does not crash the application.Program storage and the program bank support unified across all the Audiffex applications, interFX can load presets of inTone family. Bank Inspector application inside the package allows to publish presets to the web databaseVST 2.4 and 2.3 support. Does not crash when loading a PowerPC plug-in on an Intel Mac.CPU load meter on the displayMinor Changes The recovery starting with SHIFT-key down caused that built-in effects were not loaded and interFX had to be relaunched. Now the Rescan Effect Folders command loads the built in plug-ins.Panel behavior improved - click to the program unit always activates the application, windows do not disappear when interFX is in background.The Dock icon indicates the status of application - power on/offEffects can have 2 types of windows: Either document (can be put to the Dock) or panel (can appear in front of the main panel window). The switch is in Preferences / GUI.Empty program bank is not locked by default.The Window menu allows to hide the editor window or the program unitTop and bottom preference settings work as expected - windows are arranged so no part exceeds the screen area.

inSpect our sound banks! Freeware bank editor for PC released.

We have released a beta version of Bank inSpector for PC. It allows to edit inTone banks, rearrange the programs. Users may compose new banks, selecting programs from other banks.

Note: The Mac version is bundled in all inTone applications for Mac and in interFX 1.1 and newer. Use the Program menu - Publish Banks command to open the Bank inSpector on Mac.

Status of our products. GT Player and RT Player were replaced by new applications.

Where are our new products?Well, we have announced several new products at the MusikMesse a year ago. Because we have completely rewritten a lot of our code, we had to change our schedule. Now we are working on many more products than ever before. This is the list:

GT Player: We have added many features and the result is renamed to inTone | Guitar. Now it will get ability to open any 3rd party effects. Available for free to everybody who purchased GT Player in the last year. See our product pages for more info. NRV10 interFX: We have written a live effect processing software for one of the best devices appearing on the market recently: M-Audio NRV10 mixer. The mixer combines advantages of multichannel FireWire audio interface and analog mixer device. RT Player: Will be discontinued in its current appearance. All the features of RT Player are included in more popular GT Player successor: inTone | Guitar. LiveFX & RT Player once again: Because of the the strong interest in RT Player HiDSP and Live FX, we take the best from these applications and we are preparing a new multi-chain multichannel host application for live effect processing. inTone | Matrix. You can see that it has many more features than the announced LiveFX. Keyboard solution: In cooperation with M-Audio, we are working on a quite new keyboard host application. inTone | Keys. VL2: We will add new members to the PowerCore family later in 2007. inValve | interfaces. New stomp boxes: We have finished some of them, especially the Tuner. The whole set will be included in Pro versions of inTone.

We have many more employees than ever before, we are working on new products.
