Why we are developing software for musicians
Some people ask us "When?" (...we'll deliver all what we're developing) or "What?" (...will be added in the next versions of our applications). I admit, these questions are important, but they are rather technical and economical. Both the answers depend on our success - when people buy our software, we put the money back to the development and it allows us to answer the When and What questions "Soon" and "A lot of new features".
The most important question we ask ourselves is "Why?". Why we
are doing what we are doing? Our answer: We are working on music
applications because music is changing the world, making it better. And
music is one of the best things we may use computers for.
- We experienced a cruel era of communism in our country: people weren't allowed to go abroad, to study, to have private property. Music gave people courage at that time: we shared the lyrics and chords handwritten in scratched notepads worn in our pockets, we sung so-called protest-songs. And in the end, millions of people met on squares and streets to break the stupid communist government. As you may guess, they sang these protest songs in a very loud voice :).
- Another example. Children spend a lot of time in front of the computer screen. I think we should care whether they are just killing hundreds of hours of time, which they will never get back, or whether they do something which is going to be very helpful one day. Could music be helpful? In they lives, they will fail, they will have problems, something unpleasant may happen to them. That's life. One song, one composition may help them to forget, to overcome the time when they're down. Just listening can help, but playing is an even better cure. We believe we offer software allowing our teenagers to use computer in a very positive manner making music. Later they will appreciate time spent in this way.
So when asking "Why?"
we decided to develop software for practicing and playing music, we
have several good reasons.
